영어 표현을 잘하기 위해서는 영어 문법을 알고 있어야 한다. 

그렇다고 영문법만 죽기살기로 공부할 필요는 없다. 

기본적으로 영문법 책을 2~3회 정도 공부한 후,

필요할 때마다 찾아보는 방법이 유용한 것 같다.

오늘은 대화에서 자주 사용하는 'used to ~', 'get(be) used to ~'의 용법을 간단하게 다시 공부했다.

used to + 동사원형 : ~라곤 했다.  

과거에 주기적으로 했었지만, 지금은 하지 않는 과거의 습관을 나타내거나,

과거에는 사실이었지만, 지금은 사실이 아닌 경우를 나타낸다.

ex) She used to go swimming every day.

           I used to be afraid of you.

           The house didn't use to be so clean.  (부정문에서는 didn't use to)

           Did you use to do that, when you were a kid?  (의문문에서는 did...use to)

get(be) used to + (대)명사(noun) 또는 동명사(gerund) : ~에 익숙하다.

be used to는 어떠한 상황이 더 이상 새롭거나 이상하지 않을 때 사용한다.

ex)  I've lived here for fifteen years now so I'm used to driving in the city.

     Are you used to the climate?

     He's not used to working at night so he sometimes falls asleep.

get used to는 어떠한 행동/상황이 점차적으로 낯설거나 이상하지 않고 익숙해져 갈 때 사용한다.

ex) He doesn't like that small town, but he'll get used to it.

     She found the heels too high, but she got used to them.

     It took them a long time to get used to their new boss.

     Have you got used to driving on the left yet? (의문문)

오늘은 공부한 단어의 양이 적다.

have/get itchy feet

하고 싶었던 여행을 시작하다(역마살이 끼다), 하고 싶었던 일을 시작하다.

 After three years in the job she began to get itchy feet.
